The Sourcing Risk Assessment is a data product that gives companies a clear, evidence-based picture of the social and environmental risks in the supply chains they source from (deforestation, climate, human rights and livelihoods, regenerative agriculture) and what they can do about them.
Most companies sourcing agricultural commodities know their direct suppliers but have little reliable visibility of what happens at farm and landscape level. The evidence that does exist is scattered across satellite data, field assessments, certification records and local expertise. It rarely adds up to something a sustainability team can act on, and even less often to something they can stand behind when they make a public claim.
Many risk tools on the market only answer part of this. Some are generic country-level indices that say little about a specific sourcing area. Others are narrow geospatial checks that miss the social side of the picture. Bringing Rainforest Alliance’s geospatial and field data together into a risk rating that is simple enough to act on, defensible enough to support public claims, and tied to concrete mitigation recommendations is a way for Rainforest Alliance to steer corporate investment towards the places where it makes the most difference for people and nature.
